Dreamwings is a hand-painted Art Nouveau dragonfly necklace from the Enchanted Garden collection, created in oxidized brass with layered golden-green, turquoise and blue patinas and Czech crystal beads.
I paint each wing by hand, allowing the colours to shift gradually into one another rather than sit in flat blocks. Warm touches of brass remain beneath the greens and blues, giving the dragonfly an aged, luminous quality, part garden creature, part tiny relic from another world.
The elongated wings and flowing natural lines closely echo the dragonflies, insects and organic forms that became such distinctive motifs in Art Nouveau jewellery and decorative arts around the turn of the 20th century.
Finished with Czech crystal beads for small flashes of light and movement, Dreamwings is made for those drawn to nature-inspired jewellery, Art Nouveau and pieces that feel as though they might have fluttered out of an enchanted garden.
